Ojan Zargarbashi: If for a Moment
A solo presentation of works by Ojan Zargarbashi at Dastan's Basement.
Dastan presents Ojan Zargarbashi’s solo exhibition titled “If for a Moment” at Dastan’s Basement. The exhibition will be open for public viewing from July 2 through July 16, 2021. This is his second solo at the Basement and his third collaboration with Dastan.
Ojan Zargarbashi (b. 1976, Tehran, Iran) studied electronic engineering. Through the years, he has been active as an artist creating paintings, music and moving images, with his works, aside from the recent presentation at Electric Room and the current exhibition, having been exhibited in a solo show at Tehran’s Silk Road Gallery (2010), urban art projects and many group exhibitions.
He writes on the current exhibition: “My previous exhibition was a visual commentary on a specific time in future (what I named the Intermedial Future) and how human beings face that future. In the course of that project and in my attempts to arrive at a personal understanding of time – how humans relate to it and how we envision future occurrences – some small landscape drawings started to shape. These landscapes somehow narrate the path I took to discover and create that time of future. On the other hand, one of the methods I employ to visualize the Intermedial Future, is to look into some timeless photos and paintings from the past. I try to discover (as I understand it) the secret to their timelessness and to incorporate this quality in my own creations. Sometimes it happens that some of these explorations (images) deeply influence me and keep me engaged beyond my expectation..”
